About BinDays

BinDays is a free, independent UK bin collection day checker. We cover every local authority in the UK and take you straight to the official source for your collection dates.

What BinDays is

A free UK bin day checker covering 382 councils

BinDays was built to solve one of the most frustrating small problems in everyday UK life: finding out which bin goes out this week. The answer is always on your council's website, but getting there is rarely straightforward. Council websites are large, navigation varies widely between authorities, and the bin checker page can take several clicks to find.

BinDays cuts that down to one step. Enter your postcode, and we identify your council using official ONS boundary data and take you directly to the bin checker page. No searching, no navigating, no guessing.

We cover all 382 local authorities across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Every council link has been verified by hand and is kept current as councils update and move their websites.

Our values

How we operate

🔍

Direct to the source

We always link to the council's own system rather than showing dates ourselves. The council's page is the authoritative source and is kept up to date by the council. We do not risk showing stale data.

⚧

No unnecessary steps

We do not add intermediate pages, pop-ups or forced sign-ups between you and your bin day. You enter a postcode, you get to your council's page. That is the whole service.

🔒

No data stored

We do not store postcodes, track searches or build any profile of usage. The postcode is used to identify your council and is not retained. There are no accounts and no cookies that track you.

🌎

UK-wide coverage

England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are all covered. We do not focus on cities or popular areas at the expense of rural councils. Every local authority has a verified link.

📋

Links kept current

Councils change their websites and move pages regularly, particularly after mergers and system upgrades. We check links and update them when they break so you do not land on a 404 page.

🧪

Independent

BinDays is not affiliated with any local authority, government body or waste contractor. We are a private independent service. Our income comes from advertising, not from councils.

Our approach

Why we link out rather than show dates

The question we get asked most often is why BinDays does not simply show your collection dates on screen instead of sending you to the council's website. The answer comes down to accuracy and trust.

Council bin schedules change frequently. Bank holidays push collections back by a day or two. Councils reorganise rounds when they change vehicles or contractors. Christmas and New Year bring completely revised schedules. If we stored dates ourselves and one of those changes happened without us updating our records, we would show you the wrong date. You would put out the wrong bin, or put it out on the wrong day.

By taking you to the council's own page, you always see whatever the council is showing right now. If they have updated for a bank holiday, their page shows it. If they have reorganised a round, their page reflects it. The slight extra step of going to their page is worth it to guarantee you are looking at the current information.
